How do I respect players' marketing opt-outs in integrations?

Nettla sends each player's marketing email choice to your integrations. Here's what it's called and how to filter on it.

Written by Nettla

Nettla sends each player's marketing choice with their details as a true or false value. Before you send newsletters or marketing from Mailchimp, HubSpot or another tool, filter on this value being true so you don't contact players who have opted out.

What the field is called

  • In Nettla's data (Mixpanel, BigQuery, Zapier, Webhook): optInToMarketingEmails.

  • In Mailchimp: OPTINEMAIL.

  • In HubSpot: opt_in_to_marketing_emails.

  • In Google Sheets: the column "Opt In To Marketing Emails".

What the value means

  • true: the player accepts marketing emails from your club.

  • false: the player has opted out.

  • If a player has never changed the setting, the value is true.

Good to know

  • The value is the same choice players make for your announcement emails in Nettla.

  • It is sent with user events, so make sure the integration receives User Events.

  • Your Player List export has the same information in the Email opt-in column.
