The Match Settings tab in Rules & Limits controls how levels work when players create matches in the app: whether private matches require players to be at the right level by default, how wide a level range players can set, and the highest level players can give themselves.
Where to find it
Go to Settings → Rules & Limits.
Open the Match Settings tab.
Change the settings.
Click Save.
The settings
Default level requirement for private matches: Required or Suggested. This is the option pre-selected when a player creates a private match. The player can still change it. Default: Required.
Level span for private matches: how far from their own level a player can set the level range of a private match they create. Options ±1, ±1.5, ±2, ±2.5 or ±3. Default: ±1.
Level span for public matches: the same, for public matches. Default: ±1.
Maximum self-reported player level: the highest level a player can choose for themselves. No maximum or 1.0–7.0. If you have padel and tennis, there is one field per sport.
Required and Suggested
Required: only players inside the match's level range can join. Players outside it can send a request to join, which the organiser can accept.
Suggested: the level range is shown, but anyone can join.
Public matches start as Required. Players can choose Suggested for public and private matches.
Example
With a level span of ±1, a player at level 3.2 can create a match for players between 2.2 and 4.2, or a narrower range inside that.
Good to know
These settings apply to matches players create in the app. Matches you create in the calendar always use the level range you set, as Required.
Automatic cancellation rules for matches are on the separate Auto-Cancellation tab.
