What are the Stripe transaction fees?

What Stripe charges per online payment, when the fee applies, and how Nettla's fee shows in Stripe.

Written by Nettla

Stripe charges a processing fee on each online payment. The fee depends on your Stripe account's country, the card type and whether currency conversion is involved. Stripe takes it before paying out to your bank.

Example for UK clubs

For clubs in the UK, the standard Stripe fee is typically 1.5% + 20p for payments with standard UK cards. Other cards (for example international or some business cards) cost more.

Clubs in other countries pay that country's Stripe fees, and may use another currency. Check the current prices for your country at stripe.com/pricing.

When the fee applies

  • Stripe charges the fee when money is actually charged, not when it's only reserved on the card.

  • If a reserved payment is cancelled with a full refund, the hold is released and there's no Stripe fee.

  • If a reserved payment is cancelled with a partial refund, the part your club keeps is charged, and the Stripe fee applies to that part.

Nettla's fee in Stripe

Depending on your agreement with Nettla, Nettla's fees (a booking fee, shown to players as a Technology fee, and a club fee) are collected on the same Stripe payment as an application fee. In Stripe exports, they appear in the Application fee column. See "Why is a booking fee added at checkout, and is it refunded?".

Good to know

  • You can see the exact Stripe fee for each payment in your Stripe Dashboard.

  • Payments marked as paid, free of charge or paid only with a club wallet don't go through Stripe, so there's no Stripe fee.
