Why don't Nettla's numbers match Stripe?

The main reasons Sales activity and Transactions in Nettla differ from your Stripe totals, and which to use for what.

Written by Nettla

Nettla and Stripe count different things at different times. Nettla's Sales activity shows card sales on the day they were bought, without Nettla's booking fee. Stripe's balance and payout reports count money when it's charged, including the booking fee. Use Stripe for the money you actually received and Nettla for what was sold.

Different dates

  • Sales activity counts a purchase on the day it was made.

  • Stripe's balance and payout reports count a booking when it's charged: about 4 hours after the session ends, or 6 days after purchase if the session ends more than 6 days after the purchase.

  • A booking made on 1 June for a session on 10 June is in Nettla on 1 June and in Stripe on 7 June.

The booking fee

  • Nettla's booking fee (the Technology fee players see) is included in Stripe's amounts.

  • It isn't included in Sales activity or Transactions.

  • In Stripe exports, Nettla's fees are in the Application fee column.

Club wallets

  • Sales activity only counts card, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Amounts paid with a club wallet aren't counted.

  • Transactions shows the full amount, card plus wallet.

  • Stripe only sees the card part.

  • Club wallet purchases paid by card are in Stripe and in Sales activity (as Wallet).

  • Refunds to a club wallet never show in Stripe. Your club keeps the card payment and the player gets credit.

Marked as paid, free and unpaid

Bookings marked as paid, free of charge or unpaid never go through Stripe. They aren't in Sales activity either.

Pay your part bookings

Until a pay your part booking is settled (about 4 hours after the session ends), Sales activity counts the lead booker's whole reserved amount on top of the joining players' payments. It corrects itself after settlement.

Fees and refunds in Stripe

  • Stripe's payment analytics are gross. Refunds aren't deducted.

  • Your Stripe balance and payouts are after Stripe's fee and Nettla's fees.

  • Refunds update Sales activity retroactively on the original purchase date. In Stripe they appear on the day of the refund.

Several clubs on one Stripe account

Stripe shows all clubs together. Filter or group your Stripe export by clubId to compare with one club in Nettla.

Which to use for what

  • Stripe: money received, fees, refunds and payouts, and your accounting.

  • Insights → Sales activity: what was sold, and when.

  • Insights → Transactions: individual payments and their status.
