How do I connect Mailchimp?

Send your players' contact details to a Mailchimp audience, step by step.

Get your API key, Audience ID and Datacenter ID from Mailchimp, then go to Settings → Integrations, click Mailchimp, enter them and click Connect to Mailchimp. Nettla then keeps your players' contact details in sync.

What you need

  • A Mailchimp account.

Step 1: Create a Mailchimp API key

  1. In Mailchimp, click your profile icon and choose Profile.

  2. Go to Extras → API keys.

  3. Click Create A Key.

  4. Give it a name, for example "Nettla".

  5. Click Generate Key.

  6. Copy the key and keep it safe. You can't see it again after closing the page.

Step 2: Find your Audience ID

  1. In Mailchimp, go to Audience.

  2. Open Audience settings from the more options menu.

  3. Copy the Audience ID.

Step 3: Connect in Nettla

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations.

  2. Click the Mailchimp tile.

  3. Paste the Mailchimp API Key.

  4. Paste the Audience ID.

  5. Enter the Datacenter ID. This is the last part of your API key, for example "us20".

  6. Click Connect to Mailchimp.

The tile then shows Connected.

Good to know

  • Mailchimp receives player contact details only (user events). You don't need to change the gear settings.

  • Mailchimp fields are created for you automatically.

  • Players already on your list are sent when their details next change. To send them all when connecting, see "How do I choose which events are sent to an integration?".

  • Players' marketing choice is sent as OPTINEMAIL. Only email players where it is true.

  • To disconnect, click the tile again and click Disconnect from Mailchimp.
