What is a membership grace period?
A membership grace period allows your club to define a short period of time where a player continues to receive membership benefits even after their membership has expired or is unpaid.
You can think of the membership lifecycle like this:
Active membership → Grace period → Cancelled (no longer a member)
During the grace period, the player is still treated as a member, but is expected to renew or complete payment to remain active.
Do we have to use a membership grace period?
No. Using a membership grace period is completely optional.
You should only enable it if you want to give members a few extra days to renew their membership, while still allowing them to keep their membership benefits during that time.
If you prefer memberships to end immediately when they expire, you can leave this feature disabled.
When is a membership grace period useful?
A membership grace period is especially useful in the following situations:
1. Migrating members from a previous booking system to Nettla
When importing existing members, their paid membership may already be close to — or past — its end date.
A grace period gives those members extra time after the imported expire-date, allowing Nettla to trigger the renewal or subscription flow correctly, without members unexpectedly losing access.
2. Memberships without automatic renewal
For memberships that don’t renew automatically, a grace period gives members a short window to pay for the next period while still enjoying their benefits, reducing frustration and accidental churn.
