Why is a booking fee added at checkout, and is it refunded?

What the technology fee players see at checkout is, how it's collected and when it isn't refunded.

Written by Nettla

Depending on your club's agreement with Nettla, a booking fee may be added to the player's price at checkout. Players see it as a Technology fee. It goes to Nettla and, once charged, it isn't refunded.

What players see

  • At checkout, the Technology fee is shown as its own line. Players can tap it to read what it's for.

  • The checkout's policy section also explains the fee and when it isn't refunded.

How it's collected

  • The booking fee and Nettla's club fee are collected through Stripe as an application fee on the same payment.

  • You don't need to do anything. Stripe sends the rest of the payment to your account.

  • In Stripe exports, Nettla's fees appear in the Application fee column.

Is it refunded?

  • If a payment has been charged, the refund doesn't include Nettla's fees. The booking fee is kept back, and so is Nettla's club fee if your agreement has one. The checkout's Technology fee policy shows players the amount that won't be refunded.

  • If a payment was still only reserved and is refunded in full (for example, the player cancels within 6 days of buying), the hold is released and nothing is charged, including the fee.

When there's no fee

There's no booking fee when nothing is charged by card, for example free bookings, bookings marked as paid, or purchases paid fully with a club wallet.

Good to know

  • The booking fee isn't included in the amounts on Insights → Sales activity, or on Insights → Transactions (except auto-renewing memberships). This is one reason your Stripe totals are higher than Nettla's.

  • Whether a fee applies, and how much it is, depends on your agreement with Nettla. Admins can't change it in the admin.
