Why don't discounted players joining lower the price of a paid-in-full booking?

When the lead booker pays the full cost, other players' member prices don't apply. Here's why, and the options you have.

Written by Nettla

When the lead booker chooses to pay the full cost, the price is fixed at checkout. Members or discounted players who join later don't lower it, because they don't pay anything.

How the full-cost price is worked out

The lead booker pays their own share at their own price (for example a member price), plus the other places on the court at the standard price-list price.

Example: a four-player court. The lead booker's member share is £9 and the standard share is £12. The full cost is £9 + 3 × £12 = £45.

Why it works this way

Discounts follow payment, not attendance. If joining players' member prices lowered the total, a lead booker could ask members to join to cut the price, and then have non-members play in their places. Payment is the only thing Nettla can check, so a full-cost booking has a fixed price.

Option 1: pay your part

When the lead booker chooses pay your part, each player pays their own share at their own price. A member who joins pays the member price for their place.

Option 2: Apply full court discount for a cohort

You can let lead bookers in a cohort get their cohort price for the whole court when they pay in full.

  1. Go to Players → Cohorts.

  2. Click the cohort.

  3. In the Discount settings card, turn on Apply full court discount.

  4. Click Save.

This applies to court bookings and private matches paid in full by a lead booker in that cohort.

Good to know

  • Players can always choose between paying the full cost and pay your part for a court booking. You can't turn either option off.

  • The lead booker's own share always gets their own discount, even when paying in full.
